Angela Bacca

Angela Bacca is a Portland, Oregon-based freelance journalist, author, editor and political strategist. She is a native Californian who got her start in cannabis media as a student journalist at San Francisco State University in 2007 before becoming the editorial assistant to Ed Rosenthal, a founding columnist of High Times Magazine, book publisher, activist and first person to publish cannabis cultivation books in the modern era. For just over 10 years she has been the editor of multiple publications, including Cannabis Now Magazine, and has edited eight cannabis books and nearly 1,000 professional articles on the topic-- making her a walking, talking cannabis encyclopedia. She earned her MBA at Mills College in Oakland, California while covering the business rollout of the industry. More importantly, she is a patient living with Crohn's Disease and, due to her recent work as an investigative journalist, has become an outspoken advocate for federal decriminalization and descheduling.

In 2013, she relocated to Salt Lake City while her husband was in graduate school and commuted monthly to Berkeley, California to work with Cannabis Now Magazine and Rosenthal. During this time she closely covered the CBD-only legislation in Utah and nationally as well as educated the patient-advocates who are leading the charge today. In 2015 she worked as a political strategist in support of Sen. Mark Madsen's S.B. 259. She offers a unique perspective as a cannabis industry insider, editor and a longtime cannabis using patient who was forced to smuggle her medicine to survive.
